Liven Up Your Office or Retail Space!

When you think of dull environments, what comes to mind first?  Carparks, DMVs, and let’s face it, some office spaces.  For many years offices were designed to be “neutral” and inoffensive, but studies have shown that dull and boring are not neutral at all, but can harm creativity and motivation.  In this article we want to talk about the different ways you can liven up your office or retail space and show you those ideas applied in real life with some of our clients.

Start With Why

The study we cited above was from the University of Texas and found that plain gray, beige, and white office spaces induced feelings of sadness and depression, particularly among women.  Thoughtful and meaningful wraps can take your team members in a completely different direction:

  • Set the tone  Instead of boring and routine, let wraps indicate how a space is to be used and what kind of energy makes sense there.

  • Build culture and team spirit  It’s often said that the best kind of culture isn’t written down, but experienced.  But part of that experience can be choreographed by the right types of wraps.

  • Tell your company’s history  There are always new people joining the team who don’t know all that has come before.  You can share how the company’s past informs the company’s present.

  • Impress your clients  Thoughtful and engaging retail space makes customers feel comfortable and want to stay awhile

Where Can We Wrap?

There are so many places you can wrap in your office or retail space!  Here are some ideas:

  • Wall murals

  • Wayfinding (directional) signs

  • Floor signs

  • Privacy glass

  • Column wraps

  • Elevator doors

  • Windows and glass doors

  • Textured surface signs

  • Custom ceiling tiles

Some Examples to Inspire You!

Retail Spaces

Lone Peak Physical Therapy

Lone Peak has multiple locations in Montana serving PT/OT needs, as well as dry needling, certified hand therapy, post-op care, injuries (like workers’ compensation).  When people come to their spaces, they know that there are caring experts there to help them.  How better to reinforce that than with powerful messaging?

When clients see messaging like that, they can’t help but feel better, even before they begin their work.

That message can be driven home even in smaller spaces.

Never miss the opportunity to be on brand: every space, every wall offers that opportunity.

Sitka Depot

It’s Montana, so we love getting outdoors.  When you’re looking at gear to enjoy those outdoors, what better way to help you imagine than to put the outdoors right by the gear you are looking at?

You can even let that become playfulness in the dressing rooms:

It’s thoughtful uses of space like these that inspire customers to love a brand (and keep coming back!).

Office Spaces

Jelt Belt

Jelt Belt makes flexible stretch belts for work, play, and travel and they make those belts here in Montana.  It’s not that surprising that they want a workspace for their team that reminds them of the reasons they make those belts.

We were fortunate enough to be able to team up with a local artist to create wraps to fit around their existing office space and furniture.

With office space like this, you can see why “Yeah, I’m going to need you to come in on Saturday” might not be so bad!  But in all seriousness, even if your company is in a completely different industry from Jelt Belt, you can see how powerful it is for a work environment to reinforce the mission.

We hope you’ve drawn some inspiration from the examples we’ve shared and are now thinking about ways to take your office space from boring to awesome.  We’d love to talk to you about how to take those ideas and turn them into reality.  Drop us a line!
