8 Reasons to Use Window Graphics to Spotlight Your Business

Window graphics draw attention to businesses.  We know because we’ve seen ourselves get drawn in by them whether we are walking or driving by.  We love helping businesses get attention this way and want to share a few of the reasons it might make sense for you.

They Identify You

The first and most obvious reason to use window graphics is to let people know you are there.  While exterior signage has a purpose, there’s so much competing for our attention that graphics offer that edge in bringing in impulse visitors.  “I didn’t know you were here” is something that our clients tell us they hear within the first week of window graphics getting installed.  These new customers had seen the sign, but a graphic helped connect the dots and with their new knowledge they became clients.

They Offer Brand Awareness

Even if your window graphics don’t bring in a customer right away, your logo, brand colors, and messaging all communicate every time they pass your location and if and when they need your services they will have a visual anchor to bring them back.  It’s an always-on mini billboard.

They Offer Basic Information

You can offer opening hours, social media account handles, or ways to contact you if the location is closed.

They Are Affordable

Whether you are looking at single color die-cut, full-color die-cut, or full color/full coverage graphics, there’s a price point and a design that can help you achieve your marketing goals.

  • Single color die-cut graphics are perfect for words or simple logos and are traditionally done in white

  • Full-color die-cut graphics offer more flair and flexibility and will get UV coating to prevent fading on the colors

  • Full-color full coverage will also get UV coating but can also be done in such a way to be visible at night (more about that below!)

They Can Offer Privacy/Shading

Depending on the type of film you choose, you can select window graphics that allow those inside to see out but not those outside to see in, or you can create a completely opaque or frosted look.  This can often help if you get strong sun into certain parts of your location that you’re looking to reduce.

They Are Easy to Maintain

You can wash your window graphics the same way you take care of the glass, with a soapy solution.

They Can Be Used Seasonally and/or Changed

Just because you install a window graphic doesn’t mean you’re stuck with it forever.  If you want to refresh it you can.  You can also use them as frames for window displays or create seasonal variations which you can then remove at the end of that season.

They Augment Your Vehicle Wrap Messaging

We also (cough cough) do vehicle wraps and we find that customers make the connection between what they see on the road to what they see in a retail location and that continuity not only strengthens brand awareness but indicates professionalism that is attractive.

If you’ve made it this far at least 2-3 of these reasons have resonated with you so you might be asking, now what?  Well, now we have a conversation about what makes sense for your business and location.  Here are some things you should prepare for our conversation:

  • Your logo and graphics files as well as your brand colors

  • What kind of design you are thinking about

  • What your main goals are for these graphics

  • What kind of budget do you want to allocate

One final thing to think about is what kind of film you’d like to use (as you’ll see, this is part of the design as well).  Some commonly used ones are:

  • Translucent film: this can be backlit, making it visible at night

  • Perforated film: this is the “one-way mirror” effect and allows those inside to see out via (you guessed it) perforations

  • Opaque film: perfect for windows that open out to alleys or other places where you’re not dying for a view while still offering easy location assistance for deliveries

  • Frosted film: a similar look to etched glass, this works well for privacy and is a great addition to interior windows.

  • Transparent film: only the colored portions of the graphic are visible; the rest blends in with the glass

Like we said, we love designing window graphics because we know the impact they have: customers notice and tell others and those others come in as new customers.

We’d love to help you design some graphics for your business.  Let us know what you’re thinking about doing.
